Rankings methodology

What a ranking should—and shouldn’t—tell you.

People deserve to understand how directory results are organized. This page explains how Top Lawyer Rankings orders firms. We do not use star ratings or invented scores.

How our Saint Louis workers’ compensation list is ranked: every firm has a Saint Louis-area office and represents injured workers. Attorneys, addresses, phone numbers, and results come from each firm’s own website. The order reflects our editorial judgment, weighted toward how central workers’ compensation is to each firm’s practice. Featured placements, currently NMN Injury Law, are labeled “Featured.”
Ranking signals

Useful context, not a promise of outcomes.

Practice-area relevance

Whether a firm’s profile clearly identifies the legal service a visitor is searching for. A profile description alone would not prove experience or results.

Location and service area

Whether the firm indicates that it serves the visitor’s selected city or region. Local relevance should be visible and easy to correct.

Profile completeness

Current, understandable information about the firm, its services, and ways to make contact. Completeness is not a substitute for credential verification.

Published credentials

Awards, peer ratings, and case results are included only when the firm itself publishes them, and past results are never presented as a promise of future outcomes. We do not collect or display star ratings.

Paid promotion should be labeled separately.

Featured placements are clearly labeled “Featured” wherever they appear, so visitors can tell them apart from the rest of the list. A Featured label is not presented as proof of professional quality.

Accountability

How we maintain the rankings.

01 — Publish

Explain the rules

State the factors used, the information sources, and any important exclusions in plain language.

02 — Review

Correct the record

Offer a process for firms and visitors to flag inaccurate details and explain how corrections are handled.

03 — Update

Disclose changes

Date material revisions and describe how a change may affect how results appear.
